Anxiety

  • Everyone has a feeling of anxiety at some point in their life, and it is a normal reaction to stress which may be beneficial in some situation. We may experience anxiety before taking a test, when facing problems at work, or when making an important decision.  Anxiety is a ‘fight or flight’ response, which alert us to dangers and help us prepare and pay attention. However, in the case of an anxiety disorder, we may experience feelings of excessive nervousness and anxiousness, which are out of proportion to the situation.

Symptoms of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) include:

  • feeling restless/on edge, being easily fatigued,

  • having difficulty concentrating/mind going blank,

  • being irritable,

  • having muscle tension,

  • difficulty controlling feelings of worry,

  • having sleep problems such as difficulty falling or staying asleep, restlessness or unsatisfying sleep.

  • If you have been experiencing these symptoms, please do not hesitate to contact one of our therapists at MindHelps to see how we can offer you support.
